About the Beacon Hub Brighton Project
Our plans so far:
Having secured a 15 year lease from Brighton & Hove Council and arranging for the golf course to be added to Beacon Hill Local Nature Reserve, we propose to redevelop the golf kiosk & toilets into and Eco Education & Visitor Centre for the reserve.
Local architect, Kinga Hoffman, structural engineer, David Smith and surveyor, Michael Chapman, kindly donated their time and expertise to produce a beautiful new community building based on the original 1950s building layout, that is sympathetic to its surroundings and iconic position next to the windmill. Brighton Heritage Commission and other local building and materials experts have also formed part of our volunteer building design team.
The 35 capacity classroom, cafe kiosk and public access disabled toilet with baby change facility will be a welcome reinstatement of the lost facilities missing since the golf course closed down in 2013. We are thrilled with the results of the teams efforts for the community and hope you will be too.
We look forward to hearing your feedback on the design during the community consultation.
